Officials with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol face lingering questions in the investigation of a traffic accident that killed a 24-year-old Lindsay woman.

An article about the ongoing investigation is available here.

A head-on collision about two miles west of Alex in Grady County between a compact passenger car and a semi-truck resulted in one young driver being pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances which led to the crash.

The Incident

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports the 24-year-old woman was driving a compact passenger car westbound on State Highway 19. She crossed the highway’s centerline for unknown reasons. Her vehicle entered the path of an eastbound tractor-trailer driven by a 42-year-old Anadarko man.

The vehicles collided head-on, pinning the woman in her vehicle for approximately two hours. She was removed from the car by firefighters from Grady County and taken to the office of the State Medical Examiner in Oklahoma City.

The Investigation

Troopers report the woman, who was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision, died from massive injuries suffered during impact. The driver of the 18-wheeler was wearing his seat belt and survived the collision without injury.

Assisting the Oklahoma Highway Patrol at the scene were sheriff’s deputies from Grady County, Alex Police, firefighters from Chickasha, and representatives from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

State Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

About Big Rigs

The weight of tractor-trailers can be 20 to 30 times that of a passenger vehicle—allowing them to deliver massive force in a collision. To make things worse, the stopping distance of a loaded semi is 20% to 40% more than that of a passenger car.

  • My orthopedic doctor recommended Graves McLain Injury Lawyers, PLLC, to me following the need for revision hip surgery due to a hip from Stryker that was putting poison into my system. The doctor took care of the hip, and Graves McLain Injury Lawyers, PLLC, took care of the legal case. They were very thorough, professional, courteous, and always ready to answer the questions I had throughout the length of the case. In a word, the entire office is fantastic. I’m sure they were tired of my inquiries on the case’s progress, but they did not show it. They were always willing to respond and were very positive. If I ever have a claim in the future, they will be the first group to whom I reach out.
